  8. This CD ROM is designed to run on MPC and Apple Macintosh computers which
  9. have at least 4 megabytes of memory and a CD ROM drive. It will work with
  10. a 640x480 pixels 256 colour display. For instructions on how to install 
  11. and run this program, please consult the booklet provided with this disc.

  14. CONDITIONS OF USE
  15.  
  16. Users are allowed to extract graphics from this disc to use in
  17. their own work so long as it is not sold for gain or used outside the     
  18. purchasing school. The sound samples must NOT be extracted from this CD ROM 
  19. or run from any other medium unless you have the necessary site licence.

  24. ACTIVITY SHEETS AND DATA FILES

  26. The 'ACTSHTS' and 'DATA' directories contain a number of activity sheets and
  27. data files which can be used in conjunction with the World Population 
  28. Atlasfile CD ROM. Please consult the booklet for instructions.

  31. ON-LINE SUPPORT
  32.  
  33. Anglia Multimedia's On-Line services provide all disc users with extra 
  34. learning materials linked to its discs. This is available on the World Wide 
  35. Web at http://www.anglia.co.uk. A more comprehensive learning service is 
  36. provided by Education Anglia, to be found on AOL UK (America On-Line). 
  37. Log on to your AOL site and use the keyword facility and the word ANGLIA 
  38. for quick access.

  41. SAVE STATUS MULTIUSER/MULTIPLATFORM APPLICATIONS
  42.  
  43. For details of the use of the save status and resume feature, please
  44. consult the booklet provided with this disc. Please note that this
  45. feature is not available on Apple Macintosh for this release of the 
  46. disc.
  47.  
  48. By default the program saves a file named RESUME.KAS within the
  49. directory C:\ATV\_WORLDP\SCRIPTS\STATUS\RESUME.KAS (assuming drive C
  50. is your system hard disc). This file is automatically reloaded if the 
  51. user elects to 'Resume from Previous Session' when re-running the disc.
  52.  
  53. When used in a class room environment, it may be preferable to instruct
  54. each user to save their own individually named status file before leaving 
  55. the disc. By saving an individual status file each user can return to 
  56. their previous session by explicitly loading their status file. Status 
  57. files may be saved within the default directory on the system hard disc
  58. or to a floppy disc (usually drive A or B).

  60. Status files are cross-platform. If you also have the Acorn RISCOS version
  61. of this disc you can interchange status files between computers as follows:

  63. MPC to Acorn:
  64.  
  65. 1. Run this CD ROM on your MPC.
  66.  
  67. 2. Save your current status to an MSDOS format floppy disc.
  68.    
  69. 3. Remove the .KAS extension from the status file or save it as an Acorn
  70.    status file (selected from the 'Save file as Type: menu'). 
  71.    
  72. 4. Run the Acorn version of the CD ROM on an Acorn RISCOS computer. 
  73.    Drag the status file from the MSDOS floppy disc onto the program's 
  74.    main window.
  75.    
  76. 5. The Acorn disc should return to the same place and with the same 
  77.    status as the MPC version you were running.

  79. Acorn to MPC:
  80.  
  81. 1. Run the Acorn version of the CD ROM  on an Acorn RISCOS computer. 
  82.  
  83. 2. Save your status to an MSDOS format floppy disc.
  84.  
  85. 3. Run this CDROM on your MPC.

  87. 4. Load the status file from the DOS format floppy disc (select 
  88.    'Acorn Status File in the 'List files of Type:' Menu).

  90. 5. The MPC should return to the same place with the same status 
  91.    as the Acorn version you were running.
